Military Family
Our Dunlap Furniture family has a proud military background. My father, Wilbur Truby Dunlap, enlisted in the U.S. Army when he was 18. I was born while we were stationed in Munich, Germany. We then received orders to relocate to Ft. Gordon, Georgia and then on to Ft. Bragg, N.C. My father received orders to South Vietnam in June 1963. He was KIA while serving with the Military Assistance Group Forces as an advisor in October 1963. Our family stayed in Fayetteville/ Ft. Bragg area where my mom met and married Master Sergeant James Franklin Allee. James is a Korean and Vietnam war veteran. My son, Thomas T. Dunlap, has followed in their footsteps by also joining the U.S. Army. He has served one tour in Afghanistan and is currently stationed at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. Our Dunlap family also has countless family members who have served or are currently serving that we have not named. We are proud to be a part of this family's military heritage.
